Japanese Matcha culinary grade powder
Culinary Grade Matcha is made from a more mature leaf than a ceremonial grade, but it is still delicious and perfect for adding to recipes, cocktails, and baking projects. It is a stone-ground green tea.
The tea leaves are shaded before harvesting, which stimulates the plant to create more chlorophyll which intensifies the flavors and health properties of the leaves. This tea may have a more bitter flavor profile than ceremonial grade matcha but should still contain sweet and vegetal notes.
Organic matcha tea is a deeply alluring beverage containing rich historic roots within Japanese tea drinking ceremonies. Matcha, which literally means "finely powdered tea," is made from young green tea leaves and is strictly harvested from certified organic plantations. With a bold color and mildly sweet flavor, we are sure that most will find this tea to be purely delectable.
Contains caffeine.
Aroma and Flavor
A refreshing aroma with grassy, green prominence gives way to a full, refined green tea flavor with fluent polish.
Brewing Instructions
water temp | 175° (not boiling) |
time | Because this tea is shaken or whisked to incorporate, it takes less than a minute to incorporate. |
amount | Use about 1 teaspoon for about ¼ cup of water. Sift the powder into a bowl and add water. Use a bamboo whisk to incorporate into a frothy brew or add sifted powder and water to a mason jar and shake. |
infusion method | A bamboo whisk is perfect to create a frothy cup of matcha but you can also add the powder to a mason jar and shake to blend, or blend with a frothing wand or a small kitchen whisk. You can top this with frothed milk to create a latte. For cocktails, baking, and cooking you can prepare as a above, or simply add anywhere from ¼ teaspoon to more matcha directly into your recipe. |
notes on tea strength | Matcha is a strong, concentrated cup of tea because the entire leaf is ground into a powder and whisked into a tea. You can dilute with milk for a latte and also add sweetener to taste. |
